BOOM!
A downloadable project
This project is NOT available for download yet because it is in active development. It will be uploaded when it's ready.
BOOM! is an ambitious FPS project that I am developing to enhance my portfolio further and to challenge my design skills. I plan to have 23 diverse levels in here, ranging from gloomy cities to sci-fi ships to jungles to industrial areas, both large and small.
Of course, what's the point of having these many levels when you don't have anything to do in them? Collect 6 weapons ranging from Shotguns to Snipers and enjoy crunchy, satisfying gunplay where you can hear and see where your bullet hits, all the time. Clear enemies, perform platforming and do much more with abilities such as slo-mo/bullet time.
You play as Recter, a suicidal gunman who has been selected, against his will, by a Controller of the Universe to perform various dangerous tasks to solve some of the world's problems in an attempt to prove to the Creators of the Universe that she is still worthy of her position. Ironically for Recter, he always respawns when he dies, which infuriates him. Experience a gripping story that is personal, grand, funny and sad.
Note:
None of the art (models, textures, animations, most materials) in this project is made by me, similar to other projects in this portfolio. Heavily modified versions of code from the Unreal Engine is used extensively. Of course, custom code (Blueprints) is also used.
What I did do though, is everything design related. I designed all of the game's mechanics and established the game's feel. I also drew up the layouts of the levels, blocked them out, playtested them and set-dressed them using art obtained. For the first time ever, I have also designed the UI of the game. I went for a simple, modern theme using flat images and light fonts.
